Senior Medical Science Director
Pharmacosmos is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Science Director to provide strategic and hands-on medical and scientific leadership for our clinical development programs and assessment of new asset opportunities. You will serve as the key Medical Lead for selected development assets, ensuring robust clinical strategies, high-quality evidence generation, and strong cross-functional alignment. The role carries no formal line management responsibilities but requires strong matrix leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Scientific Leadership: Act as Medical Lead with overall medical and scientific accountability for assigned development assets, defining clinical strategy, medical positioning, and benefit–risk assessment, and providing medical direction to Clinical Development Teams.
Clinical Development & Medical Expertise: Serve as the medical expert in the design and conduct of clinical trials and provide medical oversight of protocols, Investigator’s Brochures (IBs), Clinical Study Reports (CSRs), and clinical sections of regulatory submissions, in close collaboration with Safety.
Cross-Functional & Scientific Leadership: Represent the medical perspective in Project Core Teams and lead cross-functional scientific alignment across Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, Safety, and Medical Affairs/Commercial functions.
Business Development & Evidence Generation: Support medical evaluation of in-licensing and partnership opportunities, identify new indications and life-cycle management opportunities, and contribute to evidence generation, publication planning, and scientific communication.
Qualifications
MD (Doctor of Medicine) or equivalent medical degree; PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), specialist training in hematology/oncology or additional scientific qualifications are an advantage.
Extensive experience in clinical drug development, including responsibility as Medical Lead or a similar role.
Strong background in clinical trial design, regulatory documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent communication, scientific reasoning, and analytical skills, with proven matrix leadership capabilities.
